What Is a Schengen Visa?

A Schengen Visa is a short-stay visa that allows its holder to travel freely within the 27 countries of the Schengen Area for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. 

It is typically issued for tourism, business, family visits, or transit purposes.

You may apply if:

  • You are a national of a country that requires a visa to enter the Schengen Area
  • You intend to stay for 90 days or less in a 180-day window

  • Passport-size photo (as per ICAO standards)
  • Proof of travel itinerary (flight reservations)
  • Hotel bookings or accommodation evidence
  • Proof of financial means (bank statements, sponsorship letter, etc.)
  • Travel insurance (minimum coverage of EUR 30,000)
  • Employment or student letter, if applicable
  • Visa fee payment receipt

  • Submit documents and biometric data in person

Standard processing times are:

  • Standard: 15 calendar days from the date of appointment
  • Extended: Up to 45 days during peak seasons or additional verification
  • Apply at least 15 days and not earlier than 6 months before intended travel
